In addition to conducting the first flash sale of the entry-level Redmi 2, Xiaomi is also set to begin selling its first tablet in India, the Mi Pad from today. The Wi-Fi only tablet is priced at Rs 12,999, and will go on sale via Flipkart exclusively, without the registration model.
Unlike all other Xiaomi products, buyers will not have to register for the Mi Pad. They can just head over to Flipkart and purchase the tablet without the fear of getting flashed by the ‘Out Of Stock' sign. This is the first time Xiaomi has moved away from the flash sale model while launching a new product in India.
The Xiaomi MiPad flaunts a 7.9-inch screen with a resolution of 1536 x 2048. The screen size and resolution match the specs on the Apple iPad mini 3. Under the hood is a quad-core 2.2GHz NVIDIA Tegra K1 CPU with 2GB of RAM inside.

The slate comes with 16GB of native storage, and if you need more memory there is a 128GB capacity microSD slot waiting for you to use it. The 8MP rear camera features an aperture of f/2.0 allowing you to snap quality pictures in low-light conditions. In addition, a 5MP front-facing snapper allows you to take selfies and use video chat. A 6700mAh battery keeps the lights on. The tablet supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.
