YouTube Now Introduces Video Ads To Mobile

YouTube is now offering the service of mobile ads allowing the content creators to monetize traffic coming in through tablets and smartphones. This is a significant development for those YouTube users across the globe, who depend on the site for revenue generation. YouTube announced the integration of True View in-stream video ads on mobile via twitter on YouTube Creators blog.

Thousands of advertisers can now avail the benefits of True View in-stream ads. 60% of such ads can be skipped after 5 seconds of viewing. True View ads make up a vast majority of the ads published through YouTube and open up content developers with access to a wider range of advertisers.

YouTube API flaw

Due to a flaw with YouTube’s API, content generators were unable to monetize traffic from mobile devices until now. YouTube has fixed this issue which was causing a lot of trouble. Users used to misuse this flaw to implement botting, a practice of purchasing views to get the video listed on YouTube’s home page which allowed them to take advantage of the subsequent traffic which followed. The new patch for the API from YouTube has supposedly fixed the flaw.

Mobile Traffic surges ahead

YouTube, a multi-million dollar company has seen remarkable improvements in their user base over the past few years. According to its statistic reports, a remarkable 20% of its global traffic arrived from mobile devices. The traffic from mobile devices tripled in 2011 and is continuously improving.
