Amid Troubles Twitter Introduces Photo Uploads for Mobile Sites on Android 4.0, 4.1
Twitter is said to have silently rolled out photo uploading capabilities for its supported mobile sites. Users who use mobile devices on Android 4.0 ICS, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and Apple iOS 6 operating system platforms would be able to enjoy this new Twitter update. The uploading of existing photos and new ones from the mobile site has greater significance especially with iPhone5 just round the corner.
Twitter is under heavy criticism for their latest announcement of new rules for its developers while working on Twitter’s API. Twitter has asked those third parties to pay Twitter for connecting to the app via API. The announcement severely affected third party clients such as Parody sites. The photo uploading announcement on the other hand first came in to notice when Twitter’s Sung Hu Kim tweeted an image and left a note claiming it to be uploaded from the microblogging mobile site and not from their app.
Twitter is now increasingly trying to provide users with more functions directly through its mobile site rather than from the application. For example they have included the photo uploading feature from their mobile site which was a part of their app until now. The mobile website of Twitter is denoted as mobile.twitter.com. Users will be able to upload photos that have been stored in the gallery, archives, Dropbox and camera. Hope, Twitter can divert some attention from the criticism it is facing for the stringent measures it has kept in place for its third-party based clients with this user friendly feature update for Android and iOS users.
