Facebook Outage: Does Not Allow Users To Update Status Messages Globally

    Facebook is suffering from a system outage on Monday evening that's preventing users from updating their statuses on the social network. Gizbot also noticed that posts could not be liked and that users could not post photos either.

    Upon trying to update their service, users are given the message, "There was a problem updating your status. Please try again in a few minutes." Even though Facebook does not provide an error message on mobile apps, the statuses don't get published either.

    After running tests on several IP addresses, Mashable has confirmed that the problem is global. According to web service status tracker Downrightnow, Facebook is currently likely experiencing a service disruption.

    The problem is believed to be caused by a system outage that occurred because of the sheer number of usersonline at any one time.
