Here are Some Simple Tips to Hide Your Facebook Friends List

Most of you might be using Facebook to stay in touch with friends, but in some cases, the social network goes too far in terms of privacy. You might not want to share all your details with all your Facebook friends. In such cases, you might want to hide some stuff to some friends.

What many people might want to hide from their friends is their friends list. If you want to hide your friends list from your Facebook friends, you can follow the steps that we have given below.

Who can see what?

Right now, there are two scenarios. One is everyone can see the entire friends in your list or only your friends can see that. This way, anyone having mutual friends with you can see who your friends are. Yes, this is possible even if they are not your friends. The other one is that no one can see who your friends are.

Hide Your Friends List

There are Facebook friends and followers. Followers are those who can see all your public posts. The fact is people can follow you without you authorizing them. They also become your followers when they send you a friend request and you ignore their request.

To control both, you can click on the Friends tab from your profile and click the pen icon on the right to edit. Then choose Edit Privacy. You have options such as Friends, Public, Only Me, and Custom and you can set any of this to your friends list.

If you choose Only Me to hide your friends list from others, don't think that you have chosen for complete privacy. Those who have mutual friends with you can still see that. Choose Custom to let some friends to see the list and hide the list from the rest.

If you generally want to hide your friends list, but there is a group of friends you do want to be able to see it, you don't have to type in their names one after the other as you can use a friends list.Once you have one set, you can choose to let just those people see your friendslist by choosing the list from the dropdown menu in the Edit Privacy.

Checking The Activity Log

You can see who sees your friends list from your Activity Log. You need to go to the Privacy Menu button at the top menu bar and click on Who can see my stuff and choosing Use Activity Log and type the name of the person to know how your profile will appear for that person.

This will show all your recent activity on the network and you can choose Friends from the sidebar to control the same. From there, you can change how the privacy settings of your friends list.
