Facebook Simplifies Video Sharing: All Videos Will Now Be Reels
Facebook is streamlining video sharing by making all videos on the platform available as reels. This change will simplify the process of creating and posting videos, removing the need to decide between uploading a video or a reel. Additionally, there will be no restrictions on the length or format of these reels.
Previously, users had to navigate different creative tools for uploading videos to Feed or posting reels. Now, Facebook is merging these experiences into a single publishing flow with enhanced creative tools. Users will also have control over who can view their reels.

Unified Privacy Settings for Enhanced Control
As part of this update, privacy settings for Feed posts and reels are being unified. The default setting will now apply to both formats. When users start posting reels after this change, they will be prompted to confirm or select a new audience setting if their current settings differ.
Users retain control over who views their reels, with options to share them with friends or specific groups. Alternatively, they can choose to make a reel public for broader reach and increased audience engagement.
Reels Tab: A New Home for Video Content
The Video tab is being renamed to the Reels tab. Despite this change, Facebook continues to value diverse topics and video lengths. Recommendations remain personalized based on user interests, ensuring that relevant content from creators is visible.
Existing video content shared by users will remain accessible on profiles or Pages for audiences to enjoy. Creators will still be eligible for distribution. However, all new videos created and posted in the future will automatically be reels.
Global Rollout and Future Prospects
Facebook plans to gradually implement these changes worldwide over the coming months across profiles and Pages. This aims to enhance user experience in creating, sharing, and discovering more engaging reels on the platform.
The updates do not alter what videos are recommended but ensure that users continue seeing content aligned with their interests from an expanding community of creators on Facebook.
This initiative highlights Facebook's commitment to simplifying video sharing while maintaining user control over privacy settings and audience reach.
