Instagram Live Isn’t for Everyone Anymore — Here’s the New Rule

However, Instagram has recently updated this feature, introducing new requirements for going live. Previously, any user could start a live session. Now, only those with at least 1,000 followers can do so.

You can now go live on Instagram only if you have at least 1,000 followers and a public account. We independently checked this on an account with fewer than 1,000 followers and received the message: "Your account is no longer eligible for Live."

Instagram has updated the requirement, stating: "We changed the requirements to use this feature. Only public accounts with 1,000 followers or more will be able to create live videos."

The ability to initiate a live broadcast is already restricted for younger users. For accounts belonging to teens under 16, the live feature is disabled by default. These users need parental or guardian consent to enable it. Meanwhile, teens aged 16 and 17 can activate the live broadcast option without needing permission.

This update aims to ensure a safer environment on Instagram by limiting who can go live and under what conditions. It reflects Instagram's ongoing efforts to enhance user safety and privacy on its platform.
