Instagram May Soon Let You Rearrange Your Posts—Here’s When It Might Launch
Instagram is preparing to roll out a long-awaited feature that will allow users to rearrange their profile grid, giving them more control over how their posts appear on their profiles.
This update, which was first spotted in development back in 2022, is now making a comeback, with Instagram's head Adam Mosseri confirming that the platform is actively working on the tool.

Instagram's Profile Grid Editing: A Long-Awaited Feature Returns
The ability to customize the order of posts on an Instagram profile has been something users have wanted for years. In January 2022, app researcher Alessandro Paluzzi (@alex193a) first spotted Instagram testing this feature, which would allow users to manually arrange posts rather than being restricted to the platform's default chronological order. However, by October 2022, he noted that the code for the feature had been removed, seemingly indicating that Instagram had shelved the idea.
Fast forward to 2024, and Instagram is once again working on profile grid editing. Last month, Mosseri announced on Threads that the company is building a tool to give creators more control over their profiles. Now, @alex193a has shared evidence that Instagram is actively developing this feature again, with backend code suggesting that users will soon be able to rearrange their posts.
How the "Edit Grid" Feature Will Work
A recent screenshot from Paluzzi shows that the "Edit Grid" feature will be located under the Edit Profile section. This means that users will have the option to rearrange posts in any order they choose, allowing for more personalized profile layouts.

For public accounts and content creators, this tool could be particularly useful. By carefully arranging their posts, they could create aesthetic layouts, storytelling sequences, or promotional grids to make their profiles more visually appealing and engaging. This could also help in boosting engagement by structuring posts in a way that encourages visitors to explore more content.
Why Instagram Is Bringing This Back Now
Instagram has likely revisited this feature after making other profile grid changes in recent years. The platform previously redesigned its grid layout, introducing larger thumbnails to better suit vertical content. Now that those changes are fully implemented, Instagram is shifting its focus back to user customization, allowing people to edit their grids freely.
For many users, this will be a significant change in how they present their content. Whether it's artists curating their work, businesses showcasing their products, or influencers maintaining a specific aesthetic, the ability to rearrange posts could change how people use Instagram as a creative tool.
When Will the Feature Be Available?
Instagram has not provided an official timeline for when profile grid editing will be available to all users. However, since it has been spotted in backend code, the feature appears to be in the testing phase, meaning a public rollout could happen in the coming months.
