Is X Down Right Now? Users Report Loading and Refreshing Issues Across the Globe
On Tuesday, the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, experienced significant service disruptions that affected users across multiple regions. Downdetector, a popular outage tracking website, reported that more than 36,500 users in the United States were impacted at the peak of the disruption.
Users reported issues with loading new posts and refreshing their feeds, highlighting ongoing technical challenges that have plagued the platform since Elon Musk's acquisition.

Widespread Impact in the U.S. and Beyond
The United States was the hardest hit by the outage, with Downdetector logging over 30,000 complaints from American users. However, the impact was not limited to the U.S. In Canada, over 3,300 users reported similar issues, while in the UK, about 1,600 users experienced difficulties. The exact cause of the outage remains unknown, raising concerns about the platform's stability.
In India, the app's performance was notably disrupted, with a significant number of users reporting problems. Many encountered difficulties in loading new content, adding to the growing list of technical issues that have surfaced in recent months. Downdetector recorded hundreds of complaints from Indian users, further illustrating the global reach of the outage.
Persistent Technical Issues Since Musk's Takeover
Since Elon Musk acquired Twitter for $44 billion, renaming it X, the platform has faced repeated technical issues. Musk, who initially attempted to back out of the acquisition, has been vocal about the platform's underlying technical problems, describing the code as "brittle." Despite ongoing efforts to improve the platform, X has experienced multiple outages and glitches, raising questions about its long-term reliability.
The most recent outage follows a similar incident during a Spaces conversation between Musk and former U.S. President Donald Trump, which Musk attributed to a "massive" cyber-attack. While the latest disruption was brief, lasting less than an hour, it adds to the growing list of issues that have marred the platform's stability since the takeover.
Uncertain Future for X's Stability
The frequency and scale of outageson X have prompted concerns about the platform's ability to maintain stable operations. While Tuesday's outage was resolved relatively quickly, the high number of complaints, particularly in the U.S., highlights ongoing challenges.
As X continues to evolve under Musk's leadership, it remains to be seen whether the platform can overcome these technical hurdles and deliver a more reliable user experience.
