Mark Zuckerberg announces baby girl and initiative to give 99% of fortune to charity

Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan celebrated the birth of their Daughter, Max. Mark Zuckerberg shared a photo of his family on his Facebook page. The post has received close to 1 million likes and several comments.

In the Facebook Post titled "A letter to our Daughter", Mark Zuckerberg, speaks about the problems of the current generation speaking especially about the problems plaguing the world. In the post is a letter addressed to his daughter, Max which speaks about Zuckerberg's plans to improve the world through technology initiatives as well as initiatives in the sphere of Public health, Education, Science, Innovation and the internet.

A highlight of the post by Zuckerberg is, "Our hopes for your generation focus on two ideas: advancing human potential and promoting equality."

Mark Zuckerberg has pledged 99 percent of his Facebook shares for the initiative. The Facebook shares valued at $45 billion will be used for charitable causes and beliefs that Mark Zuckerberg has spoken about in length in the Letter. The Facebook Post has also received replies from celebrities like Melinda Gates, Shakira and Sheryl Sandberg. The couple also received congratulatory messages from Facebook users world over in reply to the letter posted by Zuckerberg.

The "Chan Zuckerberg Initiative" founded by Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan aims at "Advancing Human potential and Promoting Human equality". Zuckerberg has previously been associated with several causes and initiatives. We must see what will come of the new initiative.
