Threads Rolls Out Saved Posts Feature: Here’s How it Works

Threads, the microblogging platform owned by Meta, has introduced a new bookmarking feature, allowing users to save their favorite posts for later. This development, first announced earlier this month, initially underwent testing with a selected group of users.

The feature's wider rollout signifies Meta's ongoing efforts to enhance user experience on Threads, alongside other recent enhancements such as a section displaying trending posts, akin to the functionality found on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Threads Rolls Out Saved Posts Feature

Enhancing User Experience with Bookmarking

Adam Mosseri, the Head of Instagram, shared the news about the broader availability of the 'Save' feature on Threads. He highlighted the convenience it brings, enabling users to bookmark posts they find interesting for future reference.

Mosseri also hinted at the potential impact of saved posts on the platform's algorithm and feed, stating that while it could eventually influence them, it remains uncertain if such changes have been implemented yet.

The introduction of a bookmark or save option is not new to social media platforms but is crucial given the algorithm-based feeds and infinite scrolling mechanisms that dominate today's digital landscapes. Such features are essential for users wanting to keep tabs on specific content without fearing its loss upon closing and reopening the app.

How to Save Posts on Threads?

  • Open Threads and Select the three-dot menu located at the top-right corner of each post
  • Select 'Save' from the dropdown options
  • A confirmation notification will appear

A saved post can be accessed anytime from the 'Saved' section within a user's profile settings.

Broader Innovations on Threads

Alongside the bookmarking feature, Threads is experimenting with a 'Today's topics' section designed to showcase real-time trending posts without the use of hashtags.

This feature aims to foster community engagement by allowing users to easily join discussions on various subjects. It represents another step by Meta to make Threads a more interactive and user-friendly platform.
