Twitter Is Officially X.com – Elon Musk Completes Transition

Elon Musk's ambitious plans for Twitter, now known as X, are finally complete. As of today, visiting Twitter.com automatically redirects you to X.com. This marks the final step in transitioning the platform away from its legacy branding.

A pop-up message on the new X.com reassures users that their privacy and data protection settings remain unchanged. This move comes after a series of changes implemented by Musk, including renaming the platform "X" and revamping features. "Tweets" are now "posts," and "retweets" are "reposts." Additionally, the iconic blue bird logo is replaced with a simple white X.

Many users expressed mixed reactions on X itself. While some are nostalgic and plan to stick with calling it "Twitter," others see X.com as the dawn of a new era.

Elon Musk's Longstanding Connection with "X"

Musk's fascination with the letter "X" extends far beyond the rebranding of Twitter. In fact, his very first online financial venture, X.com, eventually merged with PayPal. Though PayPal later sold the X.com domain, Musk reacquired it in 2017, hinting at his future plans. Even the name of his space exploration company, SpaceX, incorporates the letter X.

The formation of X Corp., the parent company for acquiring Twitter, further solidified Musk's vision. He envisions X as an "everything app," offering a comprehensive suite of features beyond social media. This could include functionalities like audio/video calling, long-form posts, and even access to an AI chatbot called Grok(currently available only to premium users).

The Future of X

With the X.com domain shift complete, the future of X under Elon Musk's leadership remains to be seen. Will the platform successfully transform into an "everything app"? Only time will tell.
