Twitter Removes Legacy Blue Ticks; Several Celebrities Reject Twitter’s Tickmark

As proclaimed, Twitter has removed the legacy blue checkmarks from accounts that've not subscribed to it. Elon Musk had assigned "4/20" as the date after which all blue checkmarks would be removed.

Several celebrities, Indian and International, such as Bill Gates, Beyonce, Pope Francis, Shah Rukh Khan, and Amitabh Bachchan, have lost their blue tick as a result.

However, in case, any of these celebrities want to revert to their old status back, they can do so by simply subscribing to it. The fee is ₹650 if purchased through the Twitter website, and ₹900 via Android and iOS.

However, ironically, Elon Musk has made exceptions for a few celebrities such as LeBron James, William Shatner, and Stephen King, who still had their blue checkmarks, despite not subscribing to the Twitter model.

Twitter Blue comes with a host of features other than the verified badge. Let's take a look.

Twitter Blue Subscription Features

Users get 30 minutes to modify published Tweets. However, this applies only to original Tweets and quote Tweets.

Subscribed users also get 50 percent fewer ads with more organic Tweets between promoted Tweets.

Twitter Blue subscribers also get a higher character allowance of up to 10,000 characters in either a Tweet or a reply.

Users can bold and italicize their Tweet if they want. They can also create a Bookmark folder for faster retrieval at a later point in time. Users can also create private folders.

There are customization options that subscribed users can choose from including NFT profile pictures, and colorful themes.

Users also get the option to customize their navigation screen from two to six items. Twitter Blue subscription also gives users access to Spaces where they can find podcasts of their choice.

The app also provides shortcuts to the most-shared articles in one's network. Then there is the option to retract a Tweet after you publish it. Twitter also prioritizes those Tweets that users interact with, using the subscription.

The subscription also allows users to upload longer videos of up to 60 minutes and 2GB size. And lastly, as we've reported earlier, subscribers also get two-factor authentication via SMS.
