Twitter Servers Crashed After Lakhs Of Users Logged In To Hear Florida Governor Ron DeSantis
Twitter had a harrowing day after the microblogging platform's servers struggled to stay operational. The surge of more than 6 Lakh users to hear Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announce his US Presidential candidature is believed to be the primary reason.
A highly anticipated live audio chat between Elon Musk, Twitter's owner, and DeSantis couldn't begin at the scheduled time as Twitter crashed. Although the social media platform got back on its feet within a few minutes, the "Twitter Spaces" event lost nearly half the listeners.

Twitter Has Been Growing And Its Usage Surging Despite Counter Indicators
Twitter, a publicly traded social media platform, was transformed into a private enterprise after Elon Musk bought it last October. The microblogging network is commonly believed to have suffered after Musk's takeover.
Several advertisers either scaled down their spending or completely abandoned Twitter after Musk bought the platform. Musk has been trying to boost Twitter's revenues ever since.
Elon Musk began his stint as the owner of Twitter by firing nearly half of Twitter's staff. He jacked up the price of the Twitter Blue subscription and even sold some Twitter memorabilia. This gave the impression that Twitter is going downhill.
However, that is not the case, and Elon Musk has been Tweeting some statistics proving the same. About 3 million users successfully tuned in to listen to Elon Musk's interview with the BBC on Twitter Spaces last month.
Although the number of users who logged into Twitter Spaces to hear DeSantis wasn't that high, about 678,000 people reported they suffered repeated crashes.
Is Twitter Suffering From Staff Shortage?
Twitter managed to get the show back up and running within 20 minutes. However, after the Spaces session resumed, it eventually managed to reach about 304,000 listeners.
"#FailuretoLaunch", "#Crashed", and "#DeSaster" were among the trending Twitter hashtags in the U.S. during the chat session.
Twitter has experienced an increased number of disruptions in service and crashes under Elon Musk. Internet observatory NetBlocks claimed since March Twitter has had six major outages since the year began, compared with three in the same period last year.
Musk claimed the crash occurred due to the huge number of listeners and his large Twitter following. However, several current and former Twitter employees claim the mass layoffs would put any platform, its operations, and remaining employees under tremendous pressure. Simply put, Elon Musk or his new CEO may have to consider hiring more staff to ensure Twitter crashes are reduced.
