X Rolls Out New Features for Premium Users on iOS: Here’s How Does Custom Timelines and Snooze Topics Work
X, earlier known as Twitter, is rolling out AI-powered custom timelines for paying users on iOS. These timelines let subscribers pin chosen topics, fine-tune recommendations using Grok AI, and pair them with a snooze tool that hides unwanted subjects for a period.
The update reflects X’s push towards feeds that feel more personal and controlled. Instead of relying only on the generic “For You” and “Following” views, Premium members get extra spaces focused on chosen interests, while still using algorithmic ranking in the background.

How AI-Powered Custom Timelines Work
Each custom timeline sits beside the existing tabs and centres on themes such as design, robotics, or real estate. Users can select from more than 75 supported topics and build separate streams, so posts about work, hobbies, or news no longer crowd a single feed.
These streams are driven by Grok AI, which studies viewing habits and engagement patterns across the app. The system looks for posts matching selected themes, then updates suggestions based on likes, replies, and time spent. An “Add+” button lets eligible accounts create, edit, and remove these AI-powered custom timelines.
Availability and Rollout
For now, AI-powered custom timelines are limited to Premium subscribers using iOS devices. X has said Android support is planned but has not given a specific launch date. The company has also not confirmed if free users will eventually receive the feature.
| Feature | Platform | User group |
|---|---|---|
| AI-powered custom timelines | iOS | Premium only |
| AI-powered custom timelines | Android | Planned, date not announced |
Alongside custom feeds, X is testing a snooze option that targets the “For You” tab. Users can temporarily block topics such as politics or sports, so fewer posts from those categories appear. This aims to cut down noise without requiring permanent unfollows or mutes.
The wider product direction places AI, especially Grok AI, at the centre of discovery on the platform. X is trying to mix manual topic selection with algorithmic curation to shape how people encounter posts. The interface prompt “Did our AI summary help?” underlines this focus on AI features.
Recorded at 10:22 IST on April 23, 2026, the launch shows X leaning towards deeper personalisation while keeping recommendation systems active. For Indian Premium users and others, AI-powered custom timelines and snooze tools together may make feeds feel more relevant and less cluttered.
