X Leads To Twitter: Is Elon Musk Renaming His Social Media Platform Or Just The Logo?
Elon Musk appears to be taking Twitter toward his favorite alphabet "X". The website X.com now leads straight to Twitter.
Elon Musk has essentially tweaked the website X.com, which is basically redirecting visitors to Twitter. Musk even confirmed that he is dumping Twitter's iconic Larry Bird logo and replacing it with a new one, which is, needless to say, the capital alphabet X. Let's look at the developments, which suggest big changes for the micro-blogging social media platform now fighting with Meta's Threads.

Elon Musk Posts New Link For Twitter And Confirms New Logo
Elon Musk posted a new link late last night. Essentially typing X.com now leads to the Twitter homepage.
Musk shared a post saying. 'X.com now points to twitter.com.' He announced on Sunday that the micro-blogging platform will be doing away with the iconic bird logo. In one of his latest tweets, Musk went on to say that the 'Interim X logo goes live later today.'
Elon Musk also included the web link in his Twitter bio. A few hours after Musk's announcement, Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino justified the rebranding exercise with a Tweet saying,
"X is the future state of unlimited interactivity - centered in audio, video, messaging, payments/banking - creating a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services, and opportunities. Powered by AI, X will connect us all in ways we're just beginning to imagine."
Is Twitter Being Enveloped By Elon Musk's X
Although Musk hasn't specifically announced the same, it appears the brand name Twitter too might be in flux. Simply put, Musk may be considering dumping the entire identity of Twitter, and the change has already begun with a new web address and logo change.
There are many copycats offering similar features and functions. Moreover, Meta's Threads is fast emerging as the biggest threat and rival to Twitter.
However, Twitter is the oldest micro-blogging network. It predates most social media platforms, except Facebook. At 200 million plus daily active and monetizable users, Twitter has a strong presence and brand recognition.
Hence, it is not clear if Elon Musk will erase Twitter's core identity. However, it is possible that Musk wants to bring Twitter within the collective identity or brand umbrella of X. Perhaps Musk could merge Twitter and the alphabet in the same way as SpaceX.
Incidentally, Twitter was already registered under a company named X Corp back in May this year. However, back then, Musk was reportedly planning to turn the micro-blogging platform into a super app that will enter segments like payments, messaging, job search, and more.
