Part Of The Social Network Were Hurtful: Mark Zuckerberg

By Vivek

Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg said that parts of The Social Network, a film inspired by his life and works, were hurtful. He was particularly miffed by the implication that he created Facebook to attract girls. He also said that he was dating his wife at the time when he came up with the online platform.

Speaking at a news conference, Zuckerberg said that makers of David Fincher's The Social Network took liberty with the story.

The 30-year-old said the filmmakers took liberty with the story about how and why he created Facebook, hollywoodreporter.com wrote. "The reality is that writing code and building a product and then building a company actually is not a glamorous enough thing to make a movie about. If they were really making a movie (of my life), it would have been of me sitting at a computer, coding for two hours straight, which probably would have not been that good of a movie," he said.

He also added that the makers went out of the way to get some interesting details correct, such as the design of the office, but they missed the reasons for which he made the site. "They just kind of made up a bunch of stuff that I found kind of hurtful," he further said.

The Social Network was released in 2010 and earned over $220 million at the box office, worldwide. It also went on to earn three Academy Awards for Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Orignal Score and Best Film Editing.

Jesse Eisenberg, who played Zuckerberg in the movie, had asked the Facebook co-founder what he thought of the film for the first time on Saturday Night Live in 2011. Zuckerberg's response was, "It was... interesting."
