Twitter: Sam Pitroda to Lead First Ever Global Press Meet on the Microblogging Network Today

Sam Pitroda, who is the advisor to Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, will be holding the first ever Global Press Meet on Twitter micro blogging website for discussing global innovation. The Global Press Meet is named ‘Global Innovation Roundtable’.

Sam Pitroda is also the Chairman of National Innovation Council in addition to being the Advisor to the Indian Prime Minister on Public Information Infrastructure and Innovations. An official statement has confirmed the report of Sam Pitroda holding the first Global press conference on Twitter for discussing ‘Global Innovation Roundtable’. 

An official statement stated, “The Twitter press conference will talk about the deliberations and outcomes of the Global Innovation Roundtable and will take up questions from Indian and international media”. 

The report also stated that Global Twitter Press Conference will be held on November 2 which is the concluding day of the Global Innovation Roundtable hosted by the National Innovation Council. 

This is the second time Sam Pitroda is holding an interactive session through Twitter since September when he held an interactive session on the subject ‘Democratisation of Information’. The conference will begin from 1900 hours (IST) on Twitter @pitrodasam and is expected to last for 1.5 hours. This is the second Global Innovation Roundtable being organized by the National Innovation Council and will be held from November 1-2, 2012.The event will have representatives from more than 15 countries participating.

The Global Innovation Roundtable will be telecasted ‘Live’ and is generally considered as a forum for sharing new ideas and experiences with the participating countries. The roundtable will try to analyze the mechanisms for collaborating on innovations that are capable of meeting the global requirements such as inclusion, access and equity. 

The National Innovation Council was introduced by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during the year 2010 for implementing strategies for innovations in the country and thereby creating a roadmap for innovations starting from 2010-2020. The National Innovation Council will present the second annual report titled ‘Report to the People’ 2012 tomorrow to Indian President Pranab Mukherjee as per the official statement.
