Asus FonePad: 7 Inch Tablet Set for India Launch on April 24

Gizbot informed you last week that Taiwanese PC manufacturer Asus will release its latest FonePad in India very soon. Our sources, confirmed last week itself, that Asus FonePad India event is going to take place in India next week. Well, the information did turn out to be authentic, as the company has sent to Gizbot the press event invite for April 24, concerning the Asus FonePad launch.

Already for past couple of weeks, Asus has been teasing its fans on the official Facebook and Twitter pages about the upcoming, "a new family member" with an image, which resembled the Fonepad from the back and now the unwrapping is just two days away.

Our source also informed earlier that Asus FonePad, which got unveiled at the MWC 2013 will hit the retail and online shelves for purchase by first week of May at a sub of Rs15,000-Rs 20,000 price range.

Asus FonePad - Key Specifications

Well, when the tab will hit India, it will come running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS and will feature a 7 inch IPS capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels just like Google Nexus 7.

Further, the tablet will boast 1.2GHz Intel Atom Z2420 processor, 3MP rear camera, 1.2MP front camera, 1GB RAM, 8GB/16GB internal storage, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and a 4,270 mAh battery. Reportedly, it is said that Asus might launch the 3G calling variant of FonePad in the coming months.

After the launch whether the new Asus tab will be a hit in India or not? - All will depend on the pricing of the upcoming device. If Asus launches FonePad with in the sub Rs 20,000 price range, it will definitely come out as a stiff competitor to the other existing offerings in the country with affordable price tags including Nexus 7, iPad Mini, Samsung mid rang Galaxy tabs, as well as budget offerings by local retailers including Micromax, Karbonn, Lava and others.
