Asus FonePad and Padfone Infinity Unwrapped Along with Asus Echo at MWC 2013

While, the rumors and leaks regarding upcoming Asus devices were heightining today with the countdown shifting to zero, finally the company started the event with the introduction of Asus Open Cloud Computing, detailing on how this new service will enable users to empower and support data storage.

Contiuing with the show at MWC 2013, Asus finally unwrapped its two most awaited devices from the company's end - Asus FonePad powered by Intel Atom Z2420 processor and Asus PadFone Infinity along with its new voice agent Asus Echo.

Asus PadFone Infinity

Taking a look at the specs, Asus PadFone Infinity will boast 5 inch 1080p display with 441ppi, 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, 13MP f2.0 camera, 2GB RAM, 64GB storage, 100Mbit/s LTE and 42Mbit/s DC-HSPA+, NFC antenna, 19hrs 3G talk time, 6.5hrs Web browsing, 9hrs movie playback, 410hrs standby time.

All of this, crafted on a unibody made from aerospace grade aluminum. Further, the PadFone Infinity will also come with an external Station, which would expand the PadFone Infinity's view to a 10.1 inch 1080p display.

The combined price of the ASUS PadFone Infinity and Infinity Station will be around SRP £799 (inc VAT). Exact price and availability will be announced closer to UK launch date.

Asus FonePad

At the same time, Asus also unveiled a competitively priced - FonePad -- 3G voice and mobile data for all the features of a smartphone, with the versatility of a 7-inch tablet.

Claimed by the company, Fonepad is a sleek and compact tablet with a metallic design that can be held comfortably in one hand, with a 340g weight and 10.4mm profile. The 7-inch screen features 10-point multi-touch, and a crisp 1280 x 800 HD resolution for crisp, readable web page text and incredibly detailed photos. IPS technology ensures vibrant color with 178-degree wide viewing angles, and images that are clear and bright, even outdoors.

Rumored to be known as Asus FonePad, the tablet will be flavored by Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and will come with voice calling capabilities. There were a couple of unusual video trailers of the upcoming tablet, but these videos say nothing about the device, itself. Guess it's all about the suspense.
As for the specifications, the Fonepad is expected to 1 GB of RAM, a 3-megapixel camera at the back, a 1.2 MP camera at the front, a microSD card slot and a 7-inch display and a 4270 mAh battery .
Intel Atom Z2420 processor has been spotted in other devices including XOLO X500, Safaricom Yolo, Acer Liquid C1 and Etisalat E-20.

ASUS Fonepad and accessories will be available in the UK late Q2 2013. Prices start from SRP £179 (inc VAT) for the 16GB Fonepad. VersaSleeve costs £19.99 and Turn Case £39.99 (both SRP inc VAT). Exact pricing and specifications will be confirmed closer to launch.
