With the launch of budget Android tablets, PCs have become outdated and tablets are the talk of the town these days. There was a time when Apple iPad, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Dell Streak and BlackBerry Playbook were some of the few known names in the tablet domain. With their exorbitant price tags and high-end specifications, most of these gadgets still remain elusive to the common man's reach.
However, in the present scenario, there are a slew of tablet devices available online as well in retail stores that are designed for the masses and offered at budget prices to the Indian consumers.
When it comes to budget tablet vendors, most of the India based tech manufacturers have shifted to the bandwagon of making such devices as they are gradually gaining more and more popularity.
Consequently, today, Gizbot has come up with a comparison between two such products from India based Karbonn Mobiles and iBall. Over the week, both the companies have come up with 7 inch Android ICS tablets - iBall iSlide i6516 and Karbonn Smart Tab 7 Torando rsspectively in the sub Rs 8,000 price point.
Read the detailed spec comparison on both the tablet and then decide on which one is your choice.
Display: iSlide i6516 sports a 7 inch IPS HD capacitive touchscreen display and Smart Tab 7 Tornado sports a 7 inch TFT LCD capacitive touchscreen display with 800 x 480 pixel resolution.
Processor: In this segment, iBall offering comes with a 1.2GHz Cortex A8 processor that is faster as compared to the 1.2GHz single core processor in the Karbonn offering.
Operating System: Likewise the other budget tablets available out there, both the device come flavored with Android 4.0 ICS operating system.
Camera: When it comes to camera optics, iSlide i6516 has a 2MP rear camera and a 0.3MP front camera while Smart Tab 7 Tornado has a 2MP front camera for video calling and lacks a rear camera of higher resolution.
Connectivity: In terms of data connectivity, both devices support built-in Wi-Fi, USB port and external 3G support. However, iBall offering scores more with Bluetooth support.
Battery: iBall iSlide i6516 comes powered with a 4,000 mAh battery and Karbonn Torando is loaded with a 3,700 mAh battery.
Price: On the pricing front, iBall iSlide i6516 and Karbonn Smart Tab 7 Tornado are priced at Rs 7,990 and Rs 5,499 respectively.
Being budget tablets, both iBall and Karbonn offerings flavored with Android 4.0 ICS platform offer similar user experience and skin.
On the software front, iBall iSlide i6516 scores an upper arm with preloaded apps including Whatsapp, Facebook, Zomato and CricketNext.
If the concern is on better viewing angles with IPS display, faster processor, Bluetooth connectivity and a slightly better battery backup, iBall iSlide i6516 should be the right choice.
However, if the concern is on a relatively lesser price tag, Karbonn Smart Tab 7 Tornado could be a better option.
