LG, the South Korean giant is enjoying cozy relationship with Tim Cook, and its team. After all, the tech vendor is said to supply Retina Display panels for next-gen iPad Mini 2. Apple has been mum on the whole issue.
Reports are in that LG could start the production of smaller Retina Display panels in the month of June or July this year. The original iPad Mini was criticized for having lower quality display. Everyone was expecting Apple to include Retina Display ducked iPad Mini but that didn't happen. Some even compared the iPad Mini with iPad 2. Since then it was speculated that Apple could announce a beefed up version of iPad Mini 2 later this year with the best display.
Looks like prayers of millions of Apple fans have started getting accepted, as Apple could announce a premium iPad Mini 2 with Retina Display. The reveal came from Richard Shim, an analyst at NPD DisplaySearch( viaCNET).
He [Richard Shim] said in the report "We should see the start of mass production of the panels in June or July."
Mr. Shim further said "Samsung is currently not in the iPad Mini and they won't be in the next generation. LGD is becoming a much bigger supplier than before". "We're going to start to see a bunch of tablets [coming out] with a pixel density over 300. At a certain point it will be hard to discern that improved image quality."
The analyst expect that Amazon.com, whose Kindle tablet sells like crazy in the US could be prepping high resolution display ducked tablet devices. The 7.9-inch iPad Mini with Retina Display will have a resolution of 2,048 X 1,536 pixels. There could be two models under iPad Mini range; one will have a Retina Display (expected date - Q3 2013) while the other model - Retina Display ducked iPad Mini with updated processor (expected date - Q1 2014).
