Lenovo Launches ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch With Windows 8 Gesture Support

Lenovo has launched ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch, an ultrabook that is optimized to add support gestures of Windows 8 to ThinkPad X1 Carbonn ultrabook. The new X1 Carbon Touch is mainly designed for professionals who require the best in class mobility and entertainment along with touch gesture control.

 

On Monday, Lenobo announced ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch Ultrabook, which builds on durability of the original carbon fiber-clad X1 Carbon with the addition of a 10-finger, 14-inch HD+ touch display.

Dimensions & Weight: As claimed by Lenovo, X1 Carbon Touch is the world's lightest 14 inch touch notebook with a weight of around 1.36kg and a thickness of 20.8 mm.

Display: The touch notebook packs a 14 inch premium HD+ LED backlit display with a resolution of 1600 x 900 pixels.

Processor: In this segment, the device is equipped with an Intel Core i5-3427U processor, which can be clocked up to 2.8GHz and Intel HD Graphics 4000 GPU.

Operating System: X1 Carbon Touch is based on Windows 8, the latest incarnation of Microsoft OS.

Camera: The device sports a 720p HD face tracking webcam for video calling.

Storage: When it comes storage, the touch enabled notebook has 8GB DDR3L SDRAM and 128GB SATA 3 solid state drive.

Connectivity: Speaking of connectivity features, the device is packed with Bluetooth 4.0, optional 3G, USB 2.0 Ethernet adapter and Wi-Fi.

Battery: Lenovo's RapidCharge technology offers fastest charge times and up to 8 hours batterly life.

Other Features

ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch comes with Dolby Home Theater v4, Microsoft Lync, dual array microphones with video and voice track capability, security and manageability capabilities including vPro, Integrated Fingerprint Reader, Trusted Platform Module, BIOS encryption and Rapid Connect feature that allows users stay connected by maintaining wireless connections even when the laptop is closed.

Price & Availability

As of now, Lenovo has launched the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch for the US market for $1,499 (approx. Rs 81,500). However, there is no official word regarding its price and availability in the Indian market.

At the launch event, Peter Hortensius, President, Lenovo Product Group was quoted stating, "Bringing touch gesture control to our best ThinkPad ever is a natural evolution of the portfolio and a big step towards fulfilling our promise to bring computers into a new PC+ era. We are excited to be able to offer customers the best experience in a thin and light business class Ultrabook. The X1 Carbon Touch is the Ultrabook to beat."
