Recently, voice calling tablets, which means tablets with SIM card support are gaining more and more popularity as they have the ability to replace the smartphones. With this in mind, several budget tech manufacturers are launching such devices in the price conscious Indian market. Some of them have gone a step further by launching dual SIM tablets.
As far as the Indian market is concerned, low cost dual SIM products are always successful with high penetration and adoption rates as a majority of consumers prefer such products.
Consequently, Kobian, a computer peripheral manufacturer in India, who sells tech products under the brand name Mercury has launched a dual SIM Android ICS tablet dubbed as mTab StreaQ with a price tag of Rs 11,500.
Prior to Kobian, Swipe Telecom, a California based tech manufacturer also unveiled a dual SIM tablet - Legend Tab with a price tag of Rs 10,999.
To see how these two newly launched dual SIM tablets stack up against each other, have a look at the comparison below.
Dimensions & Weight: The dimensions and weight of Mercury offering are not revealed by the company, however, Legend Tab carries a dimension of 197 x 124 x 11.3 mm and weighs in at 335 grams.
Display: In this segment, mTab StreaQ packs a 7 inch capacitive touchscreen display with 1024 x 600 pixel resolution, whereas, Legend Tab sports a 7 inch TFT LCD 5 point multi-touch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels.
Processor: When it comes to processor, mTab StreaQ is powered by a 1.2GHz Cortex A9 processor and Legend Tab is equipped with a dual core 1.5GHz processor.
Operating System: Both the tablets are flavored with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.
Camera: In terms of camera optics, both the tablets come with a 2MP rear camera, however, the Swipe offering comes with a 1.3MP front camera as compared to the VGA front camera in the Mercury tablet.
Storage: When it comes to storage, mTab StreaQ fares well with 8GB internal storage as compared to the 4GB internal storage in Legend Tab. Further, both the devices come with a micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB expandable memory.
Connectivity: Speaking of data connectivity, mTab StreaQ and Legend Tab are packed with features including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and dual SIM support.
Battery: While there is no information regarding the battery used in Mercury tablet, Legend Tab comes loaded with a 3,600 mAh battery.
Price: On the pricing front, Mercury mTab StreaQ and Swipe Legend Tab are priced at Rs 11,499 and Rs 10,999 respectively.
Being dual SIM tablets with almost similar specs and operating system, both the devices will offer similar user experience to the consumers.
However, if the concern is on a better display and increased internal storage capacity, Mercury mTab StreaQ could be a better option.
On the other hand, if the concern is on a relatively lower price tag, faster processor and a better front camera for video chatting, Swipe Legend Tab should be the right choice.
