Exclusive: Mercury to Launch 7 Tablets and 5 Smartphones in 2013 at Competitive Prices
Surprisingly, this quarter, the Indian tablet space will be flooded with offerings from various tech firm - where Singapore based tech firm Kobian - selling its range of tabs and phone under the brand name Mercury is also planning to steal some spotlight.
In an exclusive interview with GizBot, Sushmita Das, VP-Business, Kobian Pte Ltd, revealed that the company has plans to expand its basket of offerings in the Indian market aggressively. Sushmita said, "We are planning to launch 7-8 tablets in this year along with 4-5 Smartphones, which will be added in our range." Also, GizBot was informed that the price of all the tablets will be in the range of Rs 4,000 to Rs 18,000, which seems to be quite competitive.

Out of the whole range planned, the latest one is the tablet which is expected to hit the shelves later this month. Sushmita Das disclosed that Kobian will launch a tablet in April, which is speculated to be a 7 inch device with usual specifications and at a budget price point of approximately Rs 4,000. Following which, a 3G calling Android Jelly Bean tablet will also debut sometime around mid of May.
She confirmed that, "Jelly Bean with 3G shall be launched by mid May."
Totally the company will also launch four tablets this quarter. Sushmita Das has claimed that "We are having a complete range of 7 inch, 9.7 inch, 10.1 inch in single core, dual core and a 9.7 inch quad core tablet."
Moreover, when asked about the special features incorporated in the tablets, she replied stating, "We are paying major focus on the core processor and chipset which enhances the functionality of the product. In addition we are providing better display panel with high resolution. Quad core model will come with the likes of iPad like Retina display panel."
