Asus FonePad 7: A Voice Calling Tablet Launched in India at Rs 17,499

Asus today launched its new Android tablet called the FonePad 7 in the Indian market. It was originally introduced back in September this year during the IFA event. The device is priced at Rs. 17,499 and will be available in the select Asus authorized retail outlets starting November 2013.

 

The new FonePad 7 falls in the popular Fonepad series from Asus. It comes with a 7-inch IPS display offering a resolution of 1280x800pixels.

It runs on Android Jelly Bean v4.2 OS. It is powered by a dual-core Intel Atom Z2560 processor clocked to 1.6GHz coupled with 1GB of RAM. It also features a number of sensors like G-Sensor, E-compass, Proximity & Light sensor and Hall sensor.

The 7 inch tablet comes with an array of connectivity options like 3G (HSPA+ UL: 5.76 Mbps/ DL: 42 Mbps), Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth V3.0, AGPS and GLONASS, Micro USB, 2-in-1 Audio Jack (Headphone / Mic-in) and a micro SIM card slot.

Talking about camera, the device sports a 5MP rear camera along with a 1.2MP front facing shooter for video calls. The rear camera comes with a 100 continuous-shot 'burst' mode and 1080p full-HD video recording capability.

It also houses an internal storage capacity of 16GB storage which can further be expanded by a microSD card slot.

Asus FonePad 7 measures 196.6 x 196.8 x 10.5 mm and weighs 328 g. The voice calling tablet draws its energy from a 3950 mAh battery which is said to offer 28 hours of talk time and 35 days of standby time and up to 10 hours of video playback (3G ).

It also comes packed with a stereo speakers with SonicMaster technology which offers a better sound quality.

The tablet comes with a 5GB of life time Asus WebStorage and Asus WebStorage Office suite. Apart from these, several new apps are also featured like, SuperNote app which lets users to draft notes where he can also add images, videos and voice memos top create multimedia notes. Another app is called a Floating app which helps users to perform multitaking operations in the tab.

The tablet will be competing with Samsung's Galaxy Tab 3 3G and Nexus 7 3G tablets in the country.
