Nokia Windows Tablet Spotted Alongside Lumia 620: Is It Real Or Just A Fake Concept Render?
Rumors of a Windows RT powered Nokia tablet have been going around since 2012. On the sidelines of the launch event of Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 in India, when Gizbot asked Viral Oza, Marketing Director, Nokia India to confirm on the speculations which existed around the launch of Windows 8 based tablet at MWC 2013, he replied saying that, "Tablets are an integral part when it comes to Windows 8 ecosystem, however, I will not be able to comment on the same at this time right now."
While his quote hinted that the Finnish giant was secretly working on the launch of a tablet, more evidence to the existence of the Nokia tablet popped up via Pakistan Nokia event.
The True Story!
Earlier during the day, a NokiaGadgets report swirled an image around the tech world, which appeared to be press shots of the event featuring a Windows RT tablet sandwiched between a Nokia Lumia 620 and a desktop monitor, displaying the Windows Start screen. As per report, the tablet was described as having "a thin bezel, colorful casing and rounded sides."
The latest report gelled well with the fact that Nokia has already announced a press conference to be held at Mobile World Congress, Barcelona on February 25, 2013. Having sent out a strange invite to the tech media, it is speculated that the Finnish tech firm will unveil the Windows RT tablet at the event.
Adding more to the spicy rumor, the reports stated that Nokia tablet would debut boasting 7-8 inch display. But the folks at Nokiapoweruser, have debunked the whole matter, by informing that the cryptic yellow tablet was a part of an old promo which belongs to China and Vietnam Nokia campaign. Basically, the pictures was used in the marketing campaign of Nokia Lumia 620. Also, the punchline of the image says, 'From Screen to Screen.'
Well, the latest bit on the rumored Nokia Windows RT tablet may disappoint many, but it is to be remembered that Stephan Elop, Nokia CEO hinted at a Nokia tablet being developed. Reportedly he said last year, that the company was studying the market, in order to learn what the right way to participate would be. But with this recent leak, it looks like Nokia has made changes in the specs and features during the development process.
As per earlier rumors, Nokia will be launching a Windows RT tablet with cellular connectivity options including HDMI and USB ports. The report adds on that the tablet will be paired with a detachable keyboard and the upcoming tablet will offer over 10 hours of battery backup. Further, Nokia is rumored to initially launch the tablet in the U.S. market during Q1 2013 via AT&T, the country's popular carrier.
Well, if the Nokia tablet turns out to be a 7-inch offering, it could potentially spark the interest for cheaper Windows tablets, which is probably a space dominated by 7 inch Android tablets and iPad Mini.
