It seems Google Chromebooks are working quite well in the Indian market. The search engine giant has yet again announced the new Samsung Chromebook in the domestic market. The company announced the same in a blogpost saying that it will be available in the India market from today onwards at Rs. 26,990.
Google has already released Chromebooks from HP and Acer in India recently, thus this latest one comes as the third device in the new notebook line up from the company.
The Samsung made Chromebook can be purchased from e-commerce sectors like Flipkart (pre-order running), Cromaretail.com as well as Reliance Digital and Croma brick and mortar stores. Moreover, Google has reportedly said that Croma and Reliance Digital will both sell the entire range of Chromebooks available in the country. Thus these Chromebooks will be available at their stores in seven Indian cities which include Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata and Bangalore.
Moreover, Google has also inked an agreement with Airtel and Tikona to provide a range of exclusive cellular and broadband offers for its Chromebook customers. Following the tie up, Airtel will offer a free 3G or 4G dongle with new data plans for Chromebooks, while Tikona will offer a Wi-Fi router and 20 months 4MBps from Tikona Broadband at Rs. 4,999.
Going by the configuration of the newly launched Samsung Chromebook, it comes with a 11.6-inch display offering a resolution of 1366x768pixels. Powering the notebook is a 1.7GHz Exynos 5 dual processor which is coupled with a 2GB of DDR3L RAM. It runs on runs Google's very own Chrome OS.
The Samsung Chromebook packs 16GB of SSD (Solid State Drive) and in addition comes with 100GB of Google Drive Cloud storage, which is valid for 2 years, starting on the date the Drive offer is redeemed.
There is a 0.3MP webcam for video chatting as well along with a Wi-Fi a/b/g/n support. Moving on the the ports, it features one USB 2.0 and one USB 3.0 port as well as HDMI out, SD card slot, audio jack and Bluetooth.
It weighs 1.1 kilogram and measures 17.5mm thin. The Samsung Chromebook offers up to 6.5 hours of battery life.
Like other two Chromebooks, it also includes preloaded Google products like Search, Gmail, YouTube, and Hangouts.
The Acer C720 Chromebook and HP Chromebook 14 are also available in the market at Rs. 22,999 and Rs. 26,990 respectively.
