Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Unveiled With 3G Voice Calling: How is it Better From Predecessor?

Contradicting the rumors and speculations about the 10.1 inch and 8 inch tablets in the Galaxy Tab lineup, Samsung has announced the launch of a 7 inch device. Though Galaxy Tab 3 7 inch could pose a challenge to the flurry of other small sized players in the market, it is in no way revolutionary in terms of design and looks.

Galaxy Tab 3 is a Android 4.1 Jelly Bean based tablet in two variants - Wi-Fi and 3G voice calling as the Galaxy Tab 2 310. Moreover, with reduced bezels, the tablet features a sleek design and enhanced capabilities that offer better performance and multimedia experience.

Measuring 9.9mm in thickness and 306 grams, Galaxy Tab 3 boasts a 7 inch WSVGA capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, 169 ppi pixel density, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, 1.2GHz dual core processor, 3MP rear camera, 1.3MP front camera, 8GB/16GB internal storage, 1GB RAM, micro SD card slot supporting up to 64GB additional, Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth, A-GPS + GLONASS and a 4,000 mAh Li-Ion battery.

Of course, Samsung has packed Galaxy Tab 3 7 inch with software features including Samsung Hub, ChatON, Kies, Google Apps, Google Now and more.

Galaxy Tab 3 - Price & Availability

According to the company press release, the Wi-Fi variant of Galaxy Tab 3 7 inch will be available globally starting from May and the3G version will follow in June. As of now, the pricing remains unknown, but it is estimated to be priced in the sub Rs 20,000 price range.

Galaxy Tab 3 vs Galaxy Tab 2 310

Galaxy Tab 3 7 inch seems to retain the same old look of Samsung with the same old plastic build, a single physical home button and a centrally positioned rear shooter.

When it comes to the specs, the Galaxy Tab 3 7 inch is quite reminiscent to Galaxy Tab 2 310, existing in the market with 3G voice calling support. Moreover, the tablet has a similar display, operating system and battery capacity. But, there are a few noticeable changes including a slightly faster processor, a better front camera and support to 64GB via micro SD.

Apart from the specifications, Galaxy Tab 3 7 inch is compact and can be used comfortably in one hand and also features a sleek and stylish design with thinner bezels around the display. Obviously, the sleek form factor enables the tablet to be lightweight as compared to its predecessor.

Specwise, Galaxy Tab 2 packs a 7 inch PLS capacitive display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixel resolution, 1GHz dual core processor, 3MP rear camera, 0.3MP VGA front camera, 1GB RAM, 8GB/16GB internal memory, micro SD card for expandable memory up to 32GB, Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetoooth, micro USB 2.0 and a 4,000 mAh Li-ion battery with 20 hours talk time and 800 hours standby.
