Every gamer has a different prospect towards gaming in general. You may like to play games on a handheld console, while others may not. Beyond consoles, tablets are now being considered for mature gaming. Samsung who has been decent tablets for a while may announce a special edition of Galaxy Tab 3 any time soon.
According to a new report, Samsung is planning to sell the Galaxy Tab 3 and GamePad gaming controller as a special bundle pack. Dubbed as ‘Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Game Edition', the special pack will include 3G/Wi-Fi only tablet, game controller, an HDMI connector, and a set of three games.
Samsung hasn't revealed the price of this unique bundle. Neither Samsung acknowledged to fact that the company will announce such bundle in the coming days. May be the special game pack could hit select European markets first, followed by global release.
Since the standalone Galaxy Tab 3 T310 (Wi-Fi only) retails for Rs.20,000 in India , along with GamePad controller ( no word on pricing) will most likely to increase the cost of ownership.
Rumor has it that Samsung's GamePad controller for Android devices is expected to cost Rs.4500, which is even more expensive than the DualShock 3 controller made for PS3. Moreover, the above mentioned Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Game Edition bundle also includes an HDMI adapter, making it easy for a gamer to connect the tablet with big screen T.V.
The actual purpose of Samsung preparing a special bundle (Galaxy Tab 3 + GamePad controller and an HDMI adapter) is not clear yet. First of all, the Galaxy Tab 3 has an underperforming hardware with a dual-core processor under the hood. The tablet is just not recommended for gamers.
Yes, you can play casual and powerful racing games on the device but that doesn't mean the Galaxy Tab 3 has been certified for gaming. Secondly, the forthcoming special game bundle could be an expensive option.
It's better to go for Google Nexus 7 with GamePad controller or instead buy Xolo Play Tegra Note at much cheaper price. Thirdly, Samsung is coming up with brand new Galaxy tablets early next year. The list also includes a successor to the existing Galaxy Tab 3 and Galaxy Tab 3 lite, among high performing tablets. So one should wait for a better performing hardware made for heavy duty gaming.
