Xperia Tablet Z Out Now in India at Rs 46990: Can The New Sony Android Tab Make A Difference?
In the midst of hot climate here in New Delhi, one of the premium Japanese brands - Sony announced the arrival of Xperia Tablet Z in the Indian market. GizBot was there at the event and yes the new tablet is priced at a whooping cost of Rs. 46,990, which is indeed very expensive. On the price tag, Sony says the Xperia Tablet Z is targeted at premium users.
Clearly, the Japanese giant is chasing Apple dominated market. When asked whether Sony has plans to announce a mid-ranged Xperia Tablet in the coming months, the executive clearly told GizBot that at this point of time the company is not planning either lower end version of Xperia Tablet Z or a sequel.
That clearly means Sony would be busy promoting this very tablet throughout the year. Sony is doing very well, when comes to selling smartphones in the Indian market. After the split from Ericsson, the company's main aim is to make Xperia brand as popular they can. Sony is working closely with channel partners in India.
Claimed to be the slimmest tablet launched so far, Xperia Z tablet measures 6.9 mm in thickness and packs a 10.1 inch Reality Display with a full HD screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2, 1.5GHz quad core processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, 8MP Exynos R rear camera, 2MP front camera for video chatting, 16GB onboard storage, 2GB RAM, a micro SD card slot supporting expandable storage, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, LTE and a 6,000 mAh battery.
The primary aim of Sony is to expand its retail footprint in India. In the span of few months Sony has now around 1200 touch points in India. The Japanese giant is working closely with Channel partners to expand Xperia as a smartphone brand.
To promote their flagship device the tech vendor is promoting Sony Xperia Z as best rated handset to shot images in low light. As per the Sony Executive, the tech vendor is presently the No.3 brand in India, when it comes to smartphones. The first and second positions are napped by Samsung and Nokia to be precise.
Hence, the Japanese tech vendor will have to wait and watch out for the consumer's reaction in respect to the sales of Sony Xperia Tablet Z. Let's see if the tablet will also be able to pitch sales just like the smartphone version or not. What do you have to say on this? Share your opinions in the comments section below.
