Spice Mobiles today announced the launch of a smartphone - Stellar Virtuoso. The company has not stopped with that as it has also come up with a tablet, which is its first step to foray into the booming budget tablet market in India.
Spice has launched a 10 inch tablet dubbed as Stellar Pad Mi-1010 running with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and bearing a price tag of Rs 12,999.
Recently, several companies including Karbonn, Videocon and more have started coming up with 10 inch Android 4.1 Jelly Bean tablets in order to offer a tough competition to the high-end products and as a step to offer the advanced specs at budget price points for the budget conscious Indian consumer base.
Below are the specifications of Spice Stellar Pad. Have a look at it.
Display: The tablet sports a 10 inch capacitive multi-touch display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels.
Processor: Stellar Pad has a 1.5GHz dual core processor and a dedicated quad core GPU.
Operating System: Spice has launched its first tablet with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box.
Storage: The device packs 1GB RAM, 16GB internal storage and a micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB expandable storage.
Camera: Spice offering has a 3MP rear camera and a VGA front camera for video calling.
Connectivity: When it comes to data connectivity, the tablet comes with features including Wi-Fi, USB 2.0, HDMI, 3G via dongle and USB OTG.
Battery: The device comes equipped with a 7,600 mAh battery delivering up to 6 hours video playback and 15 days standby.
Price & Availability
Spice Stellar Pad Mi-1010 is priced at Rs 12,999 and the company is offering a leather cover worth Rs 2,000 and a USB OTG cable for free on every purchase of the tablet.
Challenger to Google Nexus 10?
As far as the Indian market is concerned, there very few 10 inch tablets with Android Jelly Bean operating system including Karbonn Smart Tab 10 Cosmic, WickedLeak Wammy Athena and Videocon VT10. However, Google Nexus 10, which is yet to be officially released into the market is based on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and hence, it comes with additional features including Gesture Typing, Miracast, DayDream, PhotoSphere and more.
Speaking of specs, Nexus 10 features a 10.1 inch display with a resolution of 1560 x 1600 pixels and 300 ppi pixel density. Also, Nexus 10 houses a 1.7GHz A15 dual-core processor, 5MP rear camera, 1.3MP front camera, 16GB and 32GB internal storage options, 2GB RAM, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, micro USB, micro HDMI, dual side NFC, GPS+Glonass connectivity features and and a 9,000 mAh Li-ion battery offering up to 9 hours video playback and 500 hours standby.
Specwise, Nexus 10 could be a better option with a remarkable pixel density, faster processor, better camera performance, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, Bluetooth, NFC and powerful battery. The tablet is available for pre-order from several online retailers for a price starting from Rs 31,000.
However, as the Indian consumer base are price conscious, the Spice offering with a price tag of Rs 12,999 could be a better choice.
