Toshiba seems to have found a key to innovation as they are soon to come with the latest Android tablet. The Thrive and Excite series may have dismayed Toshiba but they have now planned to replace it with their upcoming three Excite Models viz. Excite Pure, Excite Pro and Excite Write. Toshiba has not been able to lift the image of Tablet maker so far but the latest trio of ten inchers may bring Toshiba to a mainstream tablet arena. Many may not notice the difference between the three but don't worry, Toshiba has filled the three different devices with three different charms. All three tablets share the same plastic design and Android 4.2 OS, however, their guts have a little different features from one another like I mentioned before.
Going with the specs and features, here is a brief rundown of the trio tablet from Toshiba.
Toshiba Excite Pure which is one of the low end offering of Toshiba, comes with a 10-inch display that gives a resolution of 1,280 x 800pixels. Pure is also protected by Gorilla Glass 1. it's a $300 (Rs. 16,959) tablet that runs on a Tegra 3 SoC. Excite Pure sports a 1.2 megapixel front camera, but no back camera. The tablet houses an internal storage capacity of 16GB, but since all of these have a microSD slot, 16GB or 32GB isn't really a hard limit. It's well-made, with a stippled back and a rigid, firm build quality. Each tablet will include the latest version of Android, 4.2.2. The tablet features a very loud, bass-heavy, Harman Kardon speakers.
Moving up the Excite Pro, the tablet has the same screen of 10.1 inch IPS display with In-Plane Switching panels. The Pro offers the resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels with the pixel density of 300 ppi. And like its Pure sibling it is also protected by Gorilla Glass 2 screen to match theNexus 10. Excite Pro comes with a Tegra 4 chip and a 32GB of storage, an 8MP rear camera, Harman Kardon sound. Other noteworthy specs include micro HDMI, Micro-USB, and a microSD card slot for storage expansion. You'll find a 1.2-megapixel camera on the front and an 8-megapixel camera on the back. The tablet features a very loud, bass-heavy, Harman Kardon speakers. The device runs on Android, 4.2.2 like its two siblings. The Pro will be released at $499 (Rs. 28,204) (32GB).
The third tablet called Excite Write comes with pen support as the name suggests. This version has a similar specs to the Pro variant. The Write includes the same 10.1-inch display with 2,560 x 1,600pixels resolution protected bu Gorilla Glass. It features the same Tegra 4 and 32GB of storage, an 8-megapixel camera. Specifically, it has a Wacom digitizer with support for 1,024 levels of pressure sensitivity. Accordingly, Toshiba is also pre-loading its own TruNote and TruCapture apps. Excite Write will also be available next month, at $600 (Rs. 33,912).
All the three tablets share a common Android 4.2.2 OS, Gorilla Glass Protection, and Harman Kardon speakers. Although, there is no confirmed information as to the official release of the tablets but online report suggests that Excite trio variants will be put to store shelves soon by July.
