While the Redmond giant Microsoft has announced the end of Internet Explorer on one side, the Indian subsidiary of the same company has launched its 3rd gen and 4th gen Hybrid devices under Microsoft Surface Pro series.

For the uninitiated, the Microsoft Surface Pro series is a 2-in-1 detachable tablet that is designed and manufactured by Microsoft. Today, the Microsoft India has launched both Surface Pro 3 and 4 tablets at a price of Rs. 73,990 and Rs. 89,990 respectively.

Coming to the features, the Surface Pro 4 also supports Windows Hello face authentication using the camera as well as a fingerprint sensor on a new Type Cover for the Surface Pro 4. On the operating system, both the device is shipped with Windows 10 out of the box.

Meanwhile the Surface Pro 3 and Pro 4,tablets will be available exclusively on Amazon India. The pre-orders starts from today, while the shipment starts from January 14th.

Microsoft Surface Pro 4 vs Surface Pro 3: Display

Initially, the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 which was launched in 2014 sports a 12-inch 3:2 ClearType Full HD Plus display with a resolution of 2160 x 1440 pixels. On the other hand, the Surface Pro 4 comes with a bit larger size display - 12.3-inch with PixelSense 10 point multi-touch display with a resolution of 2736 x 1824 pixels.

What's different: When we compare both the devices, the company has increased the display size by 0.3-inch in the Surface Pro 4. Along with this, they have upped the resolution of the screen for more brighter and clearer display.

Coming to the processing department, the Surface Pro 3 is powered by a 4th-generation Intel Core i3 Processor besides 4GB RAM.

Meanwhile, in the Surface Pro 4th edition, the company has given three choices to choose from on the processor front- 6th Gen Intel Core m3 with HD graphics 515, Intel i5 with HD graphics 520 and Intel i7 with Iris graphics processor. In terms of RAM, this Surface Pro 4 comes in 4GB, 8GB, or 16GB RAM.

What's different: While comparing both the hybrid tablets, Microsoft has offered various choices in terms of processing unit and RAM storage in the Surface Pro 4 edition.

Talking about the storage, the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 is equipped with inbuilt storage of 128GB HDD, while the Surface Pro 4 offer the consumers with 4 different variants - 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB SSD.

What's different: While the 3rd Gen tablet comes with 128GB HDD (Hard Disk Drive), the Surface Pro 4 comes with 4 different variant with SSD (Solid State Drive). With the incorporation of SSD, the Surface Pro 4 tends to be faster, less noisy, low energy consumption, and mainly no mechanically moving parts.

Here in this Surface Pro 3, the imaging department is taken care of 5MP HD camera with 1080p on both sides. On the flipside, the Surface Pro 4th Gen comes with 8MP autofocus rear camera capable of recording 1080p videos and on the front it sports a 5MP camera with 1080p recording facility.

What's Different: As the front camera remains same for both the device, the latest edition got an upgrade over the rear camera with extra 3MP!

What's different: While the company offered the Surface Pen with natural pressure sensitivity (256) on Surface Pro 3, they have quadrupled the level of pressure sensitivity (1,024) in the recent Surface Pro edition.

Coming to the connectivity option, both the tablets shares similar specifications including Wi-Fi 802.11ac/802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 low energy technology, Full-size USB 3.0, microSD card reader, Headset jack, Mini DisplayPort, Cover port, Charging port. Other features include Stereo speakers with Dolby audio, Stereo microphones.

During the launch, Microsoft quoted that the Surface Pro 4 is having the same battery as its predecessor. Yes! In terms of battery life, both the tablet shares the same 5547mAh battery with up to 9 hours of video playback and web browsing.
