Sachin Tendulkar joins Hyderabad based start-up to launch a smartphone & desi Surface Pro 4 rival!
Smartron, an Internet of Things (IoT) startup with global ambitions, has finally announced its first ever range of products at an event in New Delhi, today.
The IoT startup which counts Sachin Tendulkar as an investor launched a 2-in-1 tablet called Smartron t.book that runs on Windows 10 operating system, a smartphone dubbed as t.phone and tron.x, company's unique Smartron experience.

The firm has recently received a strategic investment from cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, who is also the brand ambassador of Smartron. The company will be partnering with Foxconn for the manufacturing the devices while remaining aspects of the products will be under the control of Smartron. The list of devices to be manufactured includes smartphones, tablets, ultrabooks and IoT devices.
Speaking on the occasion, Tendulkar said, "We are moving towards Internet driven experiences and Smartron's vision is unlocking the potential of IoT will bring compelling experiences to people, making their life more productive, safe, intelligent and convenient. An Indian brand making a great leap into technology product innovation is commendable."

The company claims that the Smartron t.book is a perfect mobile workstation and will be available starting April 8 and the booking for t.phone will start on April 18, 2016. The Smartron t.book will be a worthy alternative for the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 that comes with a hefty price tag. Smartron t.book
The Smartron t.book sports a Magnesium build body. It has a unique dual tone styling with all-metal unibody design. It has a flip-out stand, which makes it easier to work or to watch movies. The keyboard comes with a magnetic strip that can be attached or detached effortlessly.

The hybrid converter sports a 12.2-inch multi-touch WQXGA IPS display with a resolution of 2560x1600 pixels. It comes with a finger-print resistant oleophobic coating with and multi-media viewing.

The t.book is powered by Intel Core M 64-bit processor paired with 4GB of RAM and has 128GB of SSD for on-board storage and there is also a microSD card slot to expand storage up to 128GB. It is available in two models: one running Windows 10 Home and another one with Windows 10 Pro with Office (2016) 30 days of trial.

The Smartron t.book sports a 5-megapixel rear-facing autofocus camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing HD camera.

The 2-in-1 is packed with a 10,000mAh battery that can power the device up to 10 hours of web browsing and 28 days of standby time. In terms of connectivity, it comes has two full-size USB 3.0, a micro HDMI port, 3.5 headphone jack, a microSD card, USB-Type C and amagnetic pogo pin for the keyboard.

The company claims the t.phone will be a premium built and is designed to be the world's lightest 5.5-inch smartphone. However, the company will provide more details in a separate event on April 3.
