Apple iPad (2025) Launched in India with A16 Chip, Liquid Retina Display: But Misses Out on Apple Intelligence
Apple has introduced an updated version of its iPad, featuring the A16 chip and increased storage capacity. The base model now offers 128GB of storage, doubling the previous amount. It retains a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display, providing users with a vibrant visual experience.
The A16 chip enhances performance significantly, boasting a 30% speed increase and up to 50% overall performance improvement, making it six times faster than leading Android tablets.

Specifications and Features
The iPad's specifications include a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display with a resolution of 2360x1640 pixels, offering 500 nits brightness and True Tone technology for accurate colours. It is powered by the A16 processor, which includes a 5-core CPU, a 4-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine. Storage options are available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB variants.
For photography enthusiasts, the device features a 12MP rear camera with an f/1.8 aperture and autofocus capabilities using Focus Pixels. The front-facing camera is also 12MP with a wide-angle lens of 122°, f/2.4 aperture, Retina Flash, FaceTime video support, and Center Stage functionality for dynamic framing during video calls.
Connectivity and Battery Life
The iPad supports optional 5G connectivity alongside Wi-Fi 6 (802.11 ax) for fast internet access. Bluetooth 5.2 ensures seamless connection with other devices. The device dimensions are compact at 248.6×179.5 x7mm, weighing approximately 477g for Wi-Fi models and slightly more for those with cellular capabilities.
A robust battery powers the iPad, offering up to ten hours of web browsing on Wi-Fi or video playback. Cellular models provide up to nine hours of internet usage via mobile networks.

In terms of pricing in India: the iPad starts at Rs. 34,900 for the Wi-Fi-only model with 128GB storage; Rs. 44,900 for the same model with double the storage; and Rs. 64,900 for the highest capacity option at 512GB. For those opting for cellular connectivity, prices begin at Rs. 49,900 for the base model. Accessories such as the Magic Keyboard Folio are priced at Rs. 24,900 while the Smart Folio costs Rs. 8,500.
