Apple could be working to bring its proprietary Face ID technology to other devices apart from iPhones. While Face ID is currently available with iPhone X, many reports have suggested that this year 3D facial recognition system will be integrated into 2018 iPhones. And not only that, the reports further go on to state that the technology will also be used in iPads. While we were speculating the case, recent developments and new pieces of evidence hint that there is a high possibility of that happening.

Apple iPad Pro with Face ID to be launched later in 2018

According to some of the Twitter posts, developers have found codes in the first iOS 11.3 beta release. The codes further mention a "modern iPad," which these developers believe is equivalent to last year's "modern iPhone." And ultimately, that modern iPhone later was released as iPhone X with Face ID.

While this finding doesn't necessarily confirm that Apple iPad could come with Face ID or the use of this code might not be enough to prove what Apple is planning but an iPad with Face ID does make sense. So we are just not ruling out this possibility.

Traditionally, whenever Apple has introduced new hardware or software features with every iteration of iPhones the features have eventually passed down to iPads as well. We can't give any reasons not to see Face ID or any other iPhone features move to iPads and Macs as well in the future.

Meanwhile, top Apple analyst already believes that these features will soon hit the next version of iPad Pro. The speculation has been projected by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who has reasons to believe that the premium features will soon be available on the next version of iPad Pro.

Kuo has stated that Apple wants to offer a premium experience with the iPad Pro which is similar to iPhone X. It is worth mentioning here that Kuo also expects all 2018 iPhone models to sport the TrueDepth Camera and Face ID. Kuo has also specified that these features will only be available on iPad Pro among all the other iPad models. The analyst made these comments in a note sent to KGI's clients in October 2017.

In any case, we should be hearing more about this case in the coming months. We are expecting to learn about it more at the upcoming WWDC 2018 where Apple will be looking to blur the lines between its iPhone and iPad products and more.
