Apple iPad Pro with M5 Chip Coming Soon: Unboxed and Benchmarked By Russian YouTuber
Apple is anticipated to unveil new iPads, possibly in October. Despite the wait, a Russian YouTuber has showcased the M5 powered iPad Pro in a video. Although the video is in Russian, YouTube's auto-dubbing feature can help non-Russian speakers understand it. The M5 iPad Pro will come in a box similar to its predecessor, the M4 iPad Pro.
The 13-inch version of the M5 iPad Pro offers 256GB of storage and retains the same colours and screen size as before. This means cases for the 2024 model will fit the new one. The primary enhancement appears to be the inclusion of the M5 chip. The device continues to be crafted from aluminium.

M5 Chip Performance
In terms of performance, the new iPad Pro runs Geekbench 6 slightly faster than its predecessor. It achieves a single-core score of 4,133 and a multi-core score of 15,437. These scores reflect improvements of 10% and 15%, respectively, over last year's model. The L2 cache has increased by 50%, but other specifications remain largely unchanged with nine CPU cores.
The RAM has been upgraded to 12GB from the previous model's 8GB in its 256GB variant. In Geekbench GPU benchmarks, the M5 iPad Pro scores 74,568 compared to the M4's 55,702, marking a performance boost of approximately 33%.
Comparative Benchmarking
When tested with AnTuTu v10, the M5 model scores 3,137,936 points while its predecessor manages 2,897,765 points. This indicates an approximate improvement of 8% for this year's model. Interestingly though, in AnTuTu tests, the older model's CPU score surpasses that of the new one for unknown reasons.

The design remains consistent with previous models making it difficult to distinguish between them visually when placed side by side. Both tablets are nearly identical in appearance and continue using aluminium as their primary material.
Overall enhancements focus on internal components rather than external changes or design overhauls. With these updates primarily centred around performance improvements through upgraded chips and increased RAM capacity.
