Apple’s Self Repair Program Extends to Select iPad Models: Here Are All the Details
Apple has broadened its Self Service Repair initiative to encompass iPads, providing users with access to repair manuals, authentic Apple components, diagnostic tools, and repair kits. This expansion aims to offer more repair options for customers and independent repair providers dealing with out-of-warranty issues. Additionally, Apple has shared new information about its Genuine Parts Distributor program.
Starting May 29, 2025, owners of certain iPad models can perform repairs on various components. Supported models include the iPad Air (M2 and later), iPad Pro (M4), iPad mini (A17 Pro), and iPad (A16). Users will be able to fix parts such as displays, batteries, cameras, and charging ports.

Genuine Parts Distributor Program
The Genuine Parts Distributor program allows businesses without direct Apple service contracts to order genuine Apple parts. Independent mobile repair professionals can purchase parts through authorised distributors like MobileSentrix in the U.S. and Europe and Mobileparts.shop in Europe. Currently, the program offers iPhone parts such as displays, batteries, and charging ports. Starting May 29, 2025, iPad parts will also be available.
Apple's commitment to expanding repair access is evident in its Self Service Repair program. The company designed this initiative for users comfortable with performing their own repairs. By expanding repair access, Apple supports more products and regions while increasing the number of service locations offering genuine parts, tools, and training.
Availability of iPad Repair Parts
The Self Service Repair support for iPads will commence on May 29, 2025. Available parts include screens, batteries, cameras, and charging ports. Genuine parts can be ordered through authorised distributors in the U.S. and Europe. This move aligns with Apple's broader effort to enhance repair options for customers.
Canada is set to become the 34th country to offer Self Service Repair this summer. Alongside Apple Stores and Authorised Service Providers, Independent Repair Providers will also have access to genuine parts through mail-in centres and the Genuine Parts Distributor program.
Brian Naumann, Apple's Vice President of AppleCare stated: "At Apple, our aim is to build the world's best products that stand the test of time. With today's update, we're pleased to broaden our repair services to more customers, helping them extend their product's lifespan - all while maintaining safety, security, and privacy."
