Global Tablet Shipments See 13.1% Growth in Second Quarter Of 2025: Report

According to the International Data Corporation (IDC), global tablet shipments rose by 13.1% in the second quarter of 2025, reaching 38.3 million units. This growth was driven by product updates, replacement cycles, and educational projects, particularly in China. Subsidies also played a role in boosting shipment volumes.

In the United States, vendors stocked up on inventory ahead of anticipated tariffs, resulting in stronger-than-expected performance. Emerging markets saw increased demand for tablets due to educational needs and affordable pricing options. Innovations like AI-powered features have enhanced user experience and productivity, sparking interest in premium tablets.

Tablet Shipments Surge 13.1% Globally In Q2 2025

Company Performance Highlights

Apple maintained its lead with 12.7 million units shipped, marking a 2.4% increase from the previous year. The release of the iPad 10.9-inch model after three years contributed significantly to this growth. Additionally, refreshed versions of the 11- and 13-inch iPad Air models added to Apple's shipment volume.

Samsung secured the second spot with a 4.2% year-over-year growth, shipping 7.2 million units. The company expanded its presence in Latin America and pushed shipments aggressively in Europe and the Middle East to compete with other top vendors.

Lenovo held onto third place with a remarkable 25% increase in sales, shipping 3.1 million units. The company's Tab M Series models gained traction, supported by subsidies for their Y700 and Xiaoxin Pad Pro models.

Amazon's Impressive Comeback

Amazon returned to the top five, securing fourth position with a staggering 205% growth year-over-year and shipments of 3.1 million units. This surge was partly due to Prime Day occurring before an expected tariff announcement that ultimately didn't happen.

Xiaomi rounded out the top five with shipments of 2.8 million units and a year-over-year growth of 42%. The Pad 7 and Redmi Pad SE were key drivers of this volume, alongside new launches like the Pad 7 Ultra and Redmi K Pad.
