Low-cost 9.7-inch iPad could support Apple Pencil Stylus
According to Kuo's latest research note, Apple Pencil sales will increase from 4-4.5 million to 9-10 million this year.
Apple is rumored to launch a cheaper iPad this year. Not much is known about the iPad, but KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that it could support Apple Pencil. Kuo has also said that Apple Pencil shipments will double this year.
According to Kuo's latest research note, Apple Pencil sales will increase from 4-4.5 million to 9-10 million this year. And it will be only possible if the upcoming lower-priced iPad carries support for the digital stylus. Currently, the 9.7-inch iPad Pro, the 10.5-inch iPad Pro, and both versions of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro support Apple Stylus.
Apple has an event slated for March 27, which will take place in a high school in Chicago. The Apple logo on the press invite seems to be made using classical swashes. So presumably, the event may witness the launch of the new iPad along with the Apple Pencil Stylus.
Late last year, we came across reports saying that a budget iPad is in the making. Apple is expected to launch an updated 9.7-inch iPad that could cost as low as $259 (approx. Rs. 16,500). So it is likely that the Cupertino-based tech giant will unveil a cheap iPad specially designed for students at the March 27 event.
If the report turns out to be legit, then the new 9.7-inch iPad might cost around $259 making it $70 cheaper than the most affordable one that exists now. This way, Apple can attract the price-conscious consumers also to buy an iPad that will increase the shipment. Also, the report states that Apple is planning to expand the inexpensive iPad into the service and industrial sectors.
To Apple's dismay, iPad sales have decreased over the past few years. So it makes sense for the company to launch a lower-priced iPad in an attempt to improve the sales number.
