Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 to launch at MWC 2018 with Snapdragon 835, Android Oreo
Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Tab S4 alongside the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ at MWC 2018 on this coming Sunday.
Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ are currently the most talked about smartphones. The company is all set to unveil the flagship duo on this coming Sunday, one day before the commencement of MWC 2018. While the Galaxy S9 series may steal the limelight, Samsung is also expected to launch another product at MWC.
Well, we are talking about the Galaxy Tab S4. Its predecessor, the Galaxy Tab S3 was unveiled at MWC 2017. So there is good chance of Samsung following the same launch pattern this year as well. Well, a Samsung tablet carrying the model number SM-T835 has appeared on GFXBench benchmarking site and it is believed to none other than the Galaxy Tab S4.
As per the GFXBench listing, the alleged Galaxy Tab S4 will arrive with a large 10.5-inch display with a QHD resolution of 2,560×1,600. The screen resolution suggests the device will have an aspect ratio of 8:5. The SM-T835 is also listed with an octa-core processor clocked at up to 2.3GHz and paired with the Adreno 540 GPU on top. The name of the chipset is not specified, but the information hints towards the Snapdragon 835 SoC.
It is worth mentioning that the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 was launched with a flagship processor from 2016. So it makes sense that the Galaxy Tab S4 will be powered by Qualcomm's 2017 flagship processor, the Snapdragon 835.
In the memory department, the Galaxy Tab S4 will apparently feature 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal flash storage space, which is presumably further expandable using a microSD card. The benchmark listing further reveals, the upcoming tablet is equipped with a 12MP rear-facing primary camera with flash, and an 8MP selfie snapper at the front.
On the software front, the Galaxy Tab S4 was tested with Android 8.0 Oreo, which could be topped with Samsung's custom UI. Moreover, the tablet will come with a single SIM tray and cellular capabilities.
As of now, rest of the specifications as well as the pricing of the Galaxy Tab S4 are unknown. The good thing is we won't have to wait for long before Samsung launches the device at MWC alongside the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ on February 25.
