Apple BKC to Open Tomorrow; Here’s What to Expect

Ahead of its much-anticipated opening on April 18, 11 am, Apple has shared images of its latest retail store in Mumbai and what users can expect at its retail stores. Read on to find out.

Called BKC, the store will be Apple's first retail store in the country, followed by another one at Saket, Delhi. The BKC store, called so because of its location at Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex, is said to be a sustainable store and offers special Today at Apple sessions to help customers.

"At Apple, our customers are at the center of everything we do, and our teams are excited to celebrate this wonderful moment with them as we open our first retail store in India," said Deirdre O'Brien, Apple's senior vice president of Retail. "Apple BKC is a reflection of Mumbai's vibrant culture and brings together the best of Apple in a beautiful, welcoming space for connection and community."

Special "Today at Apple Sessions"

Apple is said to conduct special "Today at Apple" Sessions that feature local artists and creatives and will demonstrate how customers make more out of their Apple devices.

A series called "Mumbai Rising" will be showcased from April 18 onwards. The "Mumbai Rising" series will include a Music Lab: Deep Listening in Urban Spaces with Sandunes", a Photo Lab: Portraits of Resistance with Prarthna Singh, a Design Lab: Every Poster Tells a Story with Boomranng Studio, and an Art Lab: Drawing Homage to Mumbai with Kohla.

Energy-Efficient Store

Apple claims the store is energy-efficient with a "dedicated solar array and zero reliance on fossil fuels for store operations." It is also considered operationally carbon neutral as it runs on 100 percent renewable energy.

The store is also designed with a handcrafted timber ceiling, that gives a unique geometry to the store. Each tile is said to use 408 pieces of timber and in total, there are said to be more than 450,000 timber elements. Two stone walls at the entrance were brought from Rajasthan. The store also has a 14-meter-long stainless steel staircase.

All the latest Apple products and accessories including the iPhone, Mac, iPad, AirPods, Apple Watch and Apple TV, and AirTag, will be displayed and customers are encouraged to explore these products.

Apple PickUp and Other Services

The store is also said to provide an Apple Pickup, which allows customers to pick up the product at their convenience from the store after they've purchased it online.

The store has more than 100 team members who can speak over 20 languages to help and assist customers.

Apple is encouraging customers to download interactive custom wallpapers, listen to the Apple Music BKC Playlist, and register for the upcoming Today at Apple sessions.
