Well, TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) lets you port your number to any network you want. This way, you can migrate from one network to another without actually changing your number.

Likewise, you can port your existing phone number to the Reliance Jio network and get the benefits that the Welcome Offer bundles with it. The MNP or mobile number portability process is too simple. Requirements to port to Reliance Jio

To port your existing number to the Reliance Jio network, you should have a 4G smartphone and not a 3G one. Also, the number you want to port to Jio should be activated and you need to carry the necessary documents or proofs along with two photographs.

Send the SMS to TRAI

First, you need to send an SMS to TRAI as follows. Type 'PORTNumber' and send the SMS to 1900. You will be charged Re. 1 from your core balance for this SMS, so ensure you have a minimum balance of of Re. 1 on your account. Then, you need to wait for a few hours or days to get an SMS response from TRAI.

Get your UPC

When you receive an SMS from 1901, you will get your UPC (Unique Port Code). This is very important to process your porting request. Notably, your UPC will be valid only for 15 days and you shouldn't delete the SMS from 1901.

Download the MyJio app

The next step is to download the MyJio app on your 4G smartphone. You need to install this app and get a unique barcode. You will be able to receive the code only if your phone is compatible with the Jio SIM.

Go to the nearest Reliance Jio store

Then, you need to visit the nearest Reliance Jio store such as Reliance Digital or Xpress mini stores along with the UPC code and barcode. Also, take the necessary documents as mentioned above. You need to fill the portability form and submit it.

Check the MNP status

You will have to wait for at least one week to check your MNP status. Just insert the SIM card in your phone and you will get an SMS from the Jio team about the port status.

You will get the Welcome Offer benefits

After the MNP process, you will get the Welcome Offer that the Jio 4G SIM bundles. This way, you will get unlimited and free 4G data, calls, and messages till December 31, 2016. After this period, the tariff plans will be similar to the ones that Jio has announced earlier.
