The Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus were launched in all its glory in India yesterday. Apple fanboys beelined in front of Apple's retail stores in India to get their hands on the latest iteration of iPhones. While some got lucky, a few couldn't get their hands on the device, thanks to the shortage of units.
Just ahead of the launch of the iPhone 7 in India, Bharti Airtel, one of the largest telcos in India announced free 10GB 4G data per month for one year. Reliance Jio, on the other hand, is also offering free services which worth up to Rs. 18,000 on purchasing the Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
So, let's compare both these offers to see which one's better among the two.
Free access to Reliance Jio’s services
On purchasing the Apple iPhone 7 or the iPhone 7 Plus, Reliance Jio users will get access to the offers under its Rs. 1,499 plan which includes unlimited local, STD, and national roaming calls, unlimited 4G data at night, 20GB of 4G data, unlimited SMS, and a free subscription to Jio's suite of premium apps.
Additionally, users will also get free 40GB of Wi-Fi data at Jio hotspots. Reliance says that all these offers put together will translate to an amount of Rs. 18,000 for an year.
The offer is not exclusive to the Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. In fact, those who purchase the Apple iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and iPhone SE can also avail the above-mentioned offer.
10GB free 4G/3G data every month on Airtel (for 12 months)
Airtel is bundling 10GB of free 4G/3G data every month for one year on purchasing the Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Users will be able to utilise the offers under Airtel's Infinity plan, which include unlimited voice calling (local, STD, and national roaming), SMS, and a free subscription to Wynk Music and Wynk Movies.
However, unlike the Jio's offer, this is limited to iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus only.
Reliance Jio’s offer is valid for 15 months
Reliance Jio's Welcome Offer is already compatible with the existing iPhones. So users will get 3 months free subscription to the Welcome Offer (until December 31, 2016) after which you'll be migrated to the 12-month complimentary service which translates to 15 months of free benefits. Whereas, Airtel's offer is valid only for 12 months.
Which one’s the best?
Evidently, Reliance Jio's complementary offer leaves Airtel's offer way behind in the league. However, Airtel's offer is also pretty decent. Considering the fact that you've an active internet connection at your home or workplace, 10GB should last you for a month easily.
But should you really buy an iPhone?
While these offers lure customers into buying the new Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, should you really buy the latest iPhone or consider more affordable options? We've attempted to write a few reasons not to buy the Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in this article, read it here.
