Airtel join hands with ALTBalaji for digital content

All content on Airtel TV app is completely free for Airtel Postpaid and Prepaid customers until June 2018.

India's largest telecom operator Bharti Airtel has joined hands with ALTBalaji, a wholly owned subsidiary of Balaji Telefilms, to bring exciting digital content from ALT Balaji's portfolio to Airtel TV app users.

"We are thrilled to partner ALTBalaji and bring their rich content on to Airtel TV app. This will add to the wide range of exciting digital content available to our users. As Airtel TV continues to rapidly expand its user base, we remain focused on offering our users easy access to a differentiated line up of entertainment content on the go," Sameer Batra, CEO - Wynk said.

The telco said that customers can choose from over 350 + LIVE TV channels and 10,000 + movies and shows on Airtel TV app. All content on Airtel TV app is completely free for Airtel Postpaid and Prepaid customers until June 2018.

The telco has also announced its partnership with Amazon India ("Amazon") under which postpaid customers with an Infinity plan of Rs.499 or above will get a one year Amazon Prime membership, worth Rs.999 and includes unlimited access to Amazon Prime Video, as part of their plan benefits (at no additional cost).

In a recent past Reliance Jio has also announced its tie-up with over-the-top video content provider ALTBalaji to offer available its original content on Jio Cinema and JIO TV.

ALTBalaji currently offers 14 original shows in different languages across various genres such as romance, mystery, drama, and comedy.

The digital platform has two regional original shows in its portfolio - Maya Thirrai, which the company claims is the first original series targeting only web audiences in the Tamil language, and Dhimaner Dinkaal, a Bengali series.

It also offers shows for children and stand-up comedy videos in Marathi, Punjabi, and Gujarati.
