Airtel New Postpaid Plans Offer Free International Roaming Benefits Starting October 2026
Bharti Airtel is adding international roaming to its mainstream postpaid plans, turning a feature usually bought separately into an annual bundled benefit. From October 8, Airtel postpaid users on the new plans will get one complimentary international roaming trip every year for each SIM linked to the plan.
The new postpaid portfolio starts at Rs 499 per month and goes up to Rs 1,799. Airtel is positioning the plans around travel, family sharing, unlimited data and calling, network-level spam protection, and bundled subscriptions across streaming, music and cloud storage services.

Airtel Postpaid Plans: What the Free Roaming Benefit Includes
The complimentary international roaming pack is valid for five days. It offers 5GB of data, 60 minutes of calls, 25 outgoing SMS and free incoming SMS. Airtel says the pack will not be activated automatically. Customers can turn it on when they need it, so the five-day validity starts during the trip.
The most useful part of the offer is its per-SIM structure. On Airtel family postpaid plans, every member gets one free international roaming trip each year. For example, a plan with four SIMs will carry four separate annual roaming benefits, one for each connection.

Why Airtel’s New Postpaid Plans Matter for Travellers
International roaming remains one of the more expensive add-ons for Indian mobile users, especially for short work trips, holidays and airport stopovers. Airtel’s five-day pack will not replace longer roaming packs for extended travel, but it can reduce extra costs for brief overseas visits.
The 5GB data allowance should cover basic travel needs such as maps, messaging, cab apps, email, payments and light browsing. The 60 calling minutes and outgoing SMS quota may also help users who need bank OTPs, hotel coordination or emergency contact access while abroad.
Airtel has also included its network-level spam and fraud protection across the new postpaid plans. This is designed to warn users about suspected spam calls and malicious links without requiring a separate app. The feature is becoming more relevant as mobile fraud increasingly targets users through calls, SMS and messaging links.
The bundled subscriptions vary by plan and are likely to influence upgrades. Lower-tier plans focus on Xstream Play Premium and Google One, while higher plans add Amazon Prime, JioHotstar, Apple Music, Apple iCloud+ and Netflix, depending on the monthly rental.
Existing Airtel users can move to the new postpaid plans through the Airtel app or at an Airtel store. Non-Airtel users will also be able to switch to Airtel Postpaid through the same channels from October 8. The annual roaming benefit is tied to the eligible plan and SIM, making plan selection important for families and frequent travellers.
