Airtel Offering 4G VoLTE In 22 Circles With Support For Over 250 Smartphones
Airtel is offering its VoLTE services in 22 circles. The company has become a second telecom operator after Reliance Jio. Earlier, this facility was released in 21 telecom circles of the country. But now the company has released its services Jammu and Kashmir Telecom Circle as well. Besides, Airtel is now providing this service on more than 250 already launched smartphones.
Airtel was the first telecom operator in India, which started its 4G services in 2012. After that, Vodafone started offering its 4G service. However, Mukesh Ambani- owned Reliance Jio has entered in 2016 and start offering 4G VoLTE service. On the other hand, Airtel launched its VoLTE services in 2017.
Apart from that, the company is offering this service smartphone brand like Samsung, Apple, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Asus, Gionee, Oppo, Vivo, Lava, Karbonn, Zen, Nokia, Tecno, Lephone, Celkon, Itel, Honor, Micromax, Infinix, Intex, Panasonic, Huawei, Spice, Sony, Motorola, Ziox and Realme. Also, you'll get Airtel 4G VoLTE in Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 series, OnePlus 7T, and Realme XT. On the other hand, the company is planning to launch VoWi-Fi or Voice over Wi-Fi service in India.
In other news, the company has shut down its 3G network in Punjab, and it will only offer 4G services along with HD quality VOLTE calling. The company has also requested its 3G customers to upgrade their handsets/SIMs to continue their services. However, Airtel will continue to provide its 2G services in Punjab for its feature phone users.
Airtel has also deployed the 900 MHz band spectrum to further strengthen its 4G network in the state. After this, the telecom operator is providing tri-band spectrum bank - 900 Mhz (LTE 900), 1800 Mhz (FD LTE), and 2300Mhz (TD LTE). The operator has been trying to improve its 4G LTE network in the country, and its latest move shows the same, that it will invest in the new technology.
