Airtel offers 84GB 4G Data and unlimited calls for 84 days to counter Reliance Jio
Airtel offers new plan to compete with Reliance Jio.
With the advent of Reliance Jio, the tariff war also debuted in the country. The Jio Summer Surprise offer has come to an end and the company has come up with new plans for the subscribers.
In order to compete with Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel has come up with a new plan priced at Rs. 399 offering 1GB of 4G data per day and unlimited calls for 84 days. This Airtel plan is only for the new prepaid customers and cannot be combined with the other plans offered by the telco. With the Rs. 399 plan from Airtel, subscribers can get 84GB 4G data and unlimited local and STD calls.
Airtel introduces 'Big Byte' Plan: Offers 1000GB bonus data to broadband users
Going by the terms and conditions of this Rs. 399 plan listed on the Airtel website, users will get a FUP of 1GB data per day and 1,000 minutes of local or STD calls to any network be it mobile or landline per week. Beyond 1,000 minutes of calls, users will be charged Rs. 0.10 per minute for Airtel to Airtel calls and Rs. 0.30 per minute for calls to other networks. Notably, this additional charge is meant only for the call consumption for the rest of the days in that week.
This Rs. 399 plan appears to be very similar to the Reliance Jio plan that was unveiled last month and packs same benefits as well. Recently, even Vodafone introduced such a plan with 84 days validity costing Rs. 352.
Airtel's new offer will allow using unused data to its postpaid users
Lately, Airtel announced another plan priced at Rs. 244 offering unlimited calls and 1GB 4G data per day for 70 days. However, the downside with the Airtel plans is that there is no free SMS bundled with these plans while Reliance Jio scores on this front.
