BSNL Independence Day 2026 Offer Announced: Get New SIM For Rs 1 And Long-Validity Recharge Plans Explained
BSNL has rolled out a limited-period Independence Day 2026 offer aimed at bringing new mobile and fibre broadband users onto its network at a low entry cost. Under its Freedom 2.0 scheme, the state-run telecom operator is offering a new SIM card for Rs 1, along with bundled calling, data and SMS benefits for first-time users.
The Rs 1 SIM offer is available from August 12 to September 12, 2026. It gives new BSNL customers unlimited voice calling, 1GB of data per day and 100 SMS per day for 24 days. The offer is designed for users who want to test BSNL’s mobile service before committing to a regular recharge plan.

BSNL Rs 1 SIM offer: What new users get
The biggest draw of the Freedom 2.0 scheme is the low acquisition cost. A new user can get a BSNL SIM for Rs 1 during the offer window, instead of paying a higher upfront amount for a new mobile connection. The bundled benefits make it useful for basic calling, messaging and light internet use.
The daily 1GB data allowance should be enough for messaging apps, browsing, UPI payments, maps and limited video use. However, users who stream video heavily or rely on mobile hotspot access may need a higher-data recharge once the 24-day introductory benefit ends.
BSNL’s offer comes at a time when many users are looking again at lower-cost telecom options. The company has been expanding its 4G services across India, although network experience may still vary by circle, city and locality. New customers should check local coverage before using the connection as their primary number.
BSNL Rs 2,399 recharge plan offers 412-day validity
Alongside the new SIM offer, BSNL is also promoting a long-validity mobile recharge priced at Rs 2,399. The plan comes with 412 days of validity, making it suitable for customers who prefer one annual-style recharge instead of frequent monthly payments.
The Rs 2,399 plan includes unlimited voice calls, 2GB of data per day and 100 SMS per day for the full validity period. For users with steady but moderate mobile data needs, the extended validity could help reduce recharge reminders and keep the number active for more than a year.
BSNL fibre broadband offer for new connections
BSNL has also announced an introductory offer for new fibre broadband connections. New users can get the first month of service free. For the next three months, BSNL will offer a Rs 100 monthly discount, bringing the monthly cost down to Rs 399 during that period.
From the fifth month onwards, the regular broadband tariff of Rs 499 per month will apply. This offer may appeal to households looking for a backup broadband line or users considering a switch from mobile data to fixed-line internet for work, streaming and online classes.
BSNL is also using the Independence Day period to promote the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, which runs until August 17, 2026. The Freedom 2.0 offers add a consumer-facing telecom angle to the campaign period, with low-cost mobile entry, long-validity recharge and fibre broadband discounts available for eligible new users.
